first they rip off the Strokes, at least decently, then they rip of U2. they're over now. kings of leon aren't good anymore

Spaceboy, I can see the U2 comparison, yet, I don't really see it there mate, this album is very KoL

Spaceboy you need to get your hearing checked, because they are far from ripping off the strokes. and if you think sounding like a band is ripping them off, would most musicians today be ripping off the beatles, seeing as they influence basically all modern music?

good album, probably my 2nd fav, behind aha shake heartbreak.... and i dont see how this band rips off U2 or the strokes, maybe because of the times, but this album is far from ripping off anyone, this is their routes... alternative country indie rock...

Recently been blasting this in the car on the way to work, first half is soo good, honestly this album is a real surprise, especially the awesome post-rockish roaming guitars in e.g. The End.

I don't know. I'm a long-time KOL fan, and unlike whiny hipsters, I don't care if my favorite band
gets more popular, as long as the music is still good.
While the Kings still have a bit of their signature sound, and there are hints of Aha Shake
Heartbreak here and there. This album seems a little too safe for me.
It's an OK album, but it isn't a great album. I don't really feel that moved by it. I remember
listening to Because of the Times was like an event for me every time. I would get excited to listen
to that album, and listened to it all the way through nearly every time, singing to the top of my
voice along with it.
On this album, there isn't a song that have the energy of "Fans" or "My Party." There isn't a song
that is as deep, impactful, and atmospheric as "Knocked Up," "The Runner," and "Arizona"
And there isn't a song as angst as "McFearless" or "Charmer"
But for what it is, it is a decent effort. I just wish that they could be as impressive as they were
3 years ago. Even Only By the Night had a few great standout tracks.
No matter how popular "Sex on Fire" was, it is without a doubt probably the best song they've ever
written. Caleb's vocals, the urgency of the guitars and drums. It is the perfect rock and roll song.
Anyhow, hopefully on the next album they'll aim to blow us away. It feels as if they have gotten
kind of complacent since they've reached the mainstream.
