I get a Coldplay-esque vibe from the vocals in Oscar Acceptance Speech.

I was having trouble getting into this album, but I guess I'll give it another shot.

Just started playing this album again... Holy crap, the vocals at the ending of Oscar Acceptance Speech are so gorgeous. Perhaps the greatest vocal display in recent times, in my humble opinion.

Agreed. Stupendously good lyrics on that song as well. In fact, I think the lyrics over the whole album are Vennart's best yet overall. Ahhh, what could have been...

I'd definitely agree that this album features Mike's best lyrics, or at least most "mature." Superimposter is fucking sinister.

I heard them for the first time today and I was blown away. Which album should I start with?

There's really no wrong place to start. I mean that. Having said that, I'd just start from the beginning, man.
Start at Effloresce, then move onto Music For Nurses then continue on chronologically. Once you've finished all of their full lengths and the two mini-album EPs (MFN, Home & Minor), then go back and check out all of the b-sides found on the early EPs/singles.

hmm, well i'll eventually get around to all of their albums
|
| |
drumming on this is way good. album as a whole is hard to get into, but that's me probably.

It's a hard album to grasp unless you really know Oceansize and can anticipate their style.
