Much of 80's Maiden was heavier and faster, almost thrash heavy at times. Though I'm sure too many drawn out instrumental parts, and sing along choruses for a majority of modern metal fans, but this one's worse.

Slowly but surely starting to enjoy the album! It is realy hard work the first couple of listens. Lot of good riffs on the album, and the solo's are still realy good. Only real slight negatives for me would be Bruce's strained vocals (same with Matter of Life) but thats to be expected as its the way of realy noticing signs of age- music is still awesome!

Also I think this has to be Steve Harris' weakest album in relation to bass playing. It's solid, as is Nicko's drumming, but not prominent. Where are the fills and interlocking lines up and down the scales? The oportunities are there, yet for some reason he doesnt take them. Oh well he's still god.

Like most others, The first listen was quite dissapointing but after about 5+ spins it quickly and unforgivingly blows your mind away! album is just beast! Starblind, The Talisman, The Alchemist & El Dorado are top notch, up with the best

The song Isles of Avalon was meh on my first listen, pretty good on my 2nd listen, and fucking epic on my 3rd. You're not kidding when you say it takes time to get into. Same for starblind.

Does anyone else feel that the programmed drum machine in the first track feels "off"? Regardless of whether you like it or not, it sounds kind of glitchy and flawed to my ears. Almost like a mistake...
