i feel like an album about experiences will resonate stronger when you have some experiences

but either way im still baffled by your opinion on the lyrics

ill let you know i have had many experiences thanks

i certainly hope that 'having a beer' isnt a prerequisite for truly enjoying this album because then i dont think the album did a good job of universalising and unifying its themes of you know pain and anger and what have you (you may say this wasnt their intention but im pretty sure this is one of the album's more obvious aspects and certainly what most of you have been talking about) with all people, not just beer guzzlers or whatever (i realize enotron's response was probably facetious but just making sure). stickles drinks his problems away; i might do something else but if the album does it right i should still realize that his pain is mine

the album literally comes off to me as either a genuinely annoying man who sees no problem with whining endlessly and thinks many of his ideas are revolutionary when they just come off as potentially someone's angry and unappreciative blog entries. the second option is some dude who is just faking it but knows that a bunch of his audience will see it as the second coming of punk or a revolutionary call-to-arms or whatever. either way it's just ugly and wrongheaded.

ive been focusing on the lyrics but im no fan of the music either but yeah

alright the age thing is (mostly) just teasing you, so you were right to think that was facetious, but the rant on beer was nice

It's understandable to focus on the lyrics as they're vital but I think you are truly misunderstanding what the whole album's about. This isn't supposed to incite a riot or anything. I've met Patrick Stickles, and he seemed like a genuinely down to earth guy, I'm convinced that the second option isn't true.

Which leaves the first option, which I guess you can interpret it as, but you're selling it way too short. Do you think Battle of Hampton Roads is just whining? I don't know I think the album does a great job at universalizing not pain and anger, but nothingness, the thought that life's been kind of a waste, that ambition has never been nor will ever be reached. And it makes me feel good about that. which is awesome

The Battle Of Hampton Roads might be my song of the year. I realized while I was listening earlier that I enjoy the lyrics much more than the music. I have this at a 3.5 becuase of that and also because I find some tracks really uninteresting.

it seems you have trouble finding the distinction from when I'm being serious and when I'm not

but on a serious note, there is absolutely nothing morally wrong with the natural desire to alter one's mind, or be intoxicated to a rational degree.

haha no offense Enotron, bro
Personally, alcohol is no longer my friend. The mother of my son left me because of alcohol (I have slipped in many ways, so I prefer to stay sober). All good things come to an end. *no debate*
