Not much dude just chilling yeah maybe I'm being a bit unfair it's like comparing apples and oranges but Elliott's shit clicks with me in a way Jeff's doesn't, though they were both extremely gifted. This album is so great agreed.

This is my personal favorite Elliott Smith. The last 5 tracks are perfection.

basically this, xo, either/or and grace are almost 5's for me so no point really comparing them, they're all amazing

like seriously it's kinda ridiculous that all three of those smith albums are in contention for my favorite by him

Yeah dude he was such a talented guitarist, very technically capable, and he had a real gift for writing incredible melodies. It's so sad that he died so young.

He was sad, his music was sad no matter how upbeat it seemed at times. Just listen to Can't Make a Sound.

I hear that buddy, it made its way through no matter what. I suppose he wouldn't have been the great artist that he was without all of his inner turmoil but it's a hell of a price to pay.

always thought figure 8 was pretty uplifting if you only paid attention to the melodies and such though

Agreed, it can be enjoyed as a chilled upbeat record as long as you don't listen to the lyrics too hard. Versatile album for sure, can be enjoyed in multiple settings in multiple ways.

I guess just knowing Elliott's life story and especially the grisly details of his incredibly sad death I can't help but think about it when I listen to his music.
