now you're entering assumptions into supposedly "factual" statements

Either way, if God exists or He doesn't, it's a fact. An album being good or bad is not a fact, so let's not criticize each other's musical tastes.

Dude, seriously, religion is an opinion. All you are doing is assuming that one day God can be proven or unproven to exist, and that is, in fact, an opinion in itself.

Lol, so if I made an album where I just lazily strummed a guitar and made weird noises with my mouth, it could be considered good by someone?
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
Of course it is. If religion was a fact, everybody would follow the same one. But the difference is that a religious person believes that his view is correct, whereas somebody rating an album knows that his view is not the absolute truth.

Lol, hold on one sec. If someone thinks that this is a 5, then that means they think it's a fact. C'mon dude, you're running around in circles.

so basically religious people are dumber than sputnikers?

I'm not ruling out the possibility that somebody could find that enjoyable, buckfutter. I mean, why not? It's just a different sound.

Let me put this another way:
What a religious person does NOT say: "I think there is a God."
What a religious person does say: "There is a God."
What an album reviewer does NOT say: "This album is a 5."
What an album reviewer does say: "I think this album is a 5."

Dude, that thing wouldn't sell for three reasons:
a) Record labels wouldn't pick it up for the fact that it is horrible
b) Record stores wouldn't sell it for the fact that it is horrible
c) People wouldn't buy it for the fact that it is horrible
Dude, I've played in about 3 bands, and I'll tell ya, 2 out of 3 of those bands were absolutely horrendous.

Lol, have you ever read an album review on this site?

Actually, Inveigh, what buckfutter described is pretty much the extent of my guitar-playing abilities.

Album Rating: 2.5
I didn't read any "I thinks" in one single review for this album
The Powerless Rise is perfect and pretty much unfaultable
not meaning to single out WhiteWall, but these kinds of statements are in shit-tons of reviews and put to rest the whole "it's just an opinion" arguments

Album Rating: 3.0
"This album is a solid 5"
"How is this album rated so low?"
"I don't care what you all say, this album deserves this 1 rating."
I've seen all those on countless reviews.

The only fact is that most people find it horrible, which is why record labels wouldn't see it as a moneymaker. That doesn't mean nobody would like it.

Of course people don't say "I think," because it makes the review seem a lot weaker. I never say it in my reviews, but regardless, I still know it's my opinion.

did you even read this review?

Dude, you keep running around in circles man. Almost every other statement contradicts everything you've said before. Not trying to down you or anything, dude, I'm just letting you know.

Okay. Forget EVERYTHING I've said before. I made it too complicated and yeah, I might have gone ahead of myself a bit.
Here's what it is, plain and simple. Person A rates an album a 4. Person B rates an album a 2. 50 people back up person A while 300 people back up person B. Neither person A nor person B is right, however.
There. Simple enough?
