Forget that reviewer's pretentiousness Slum. Your review was quite spot on and well written. I think he called it rushed and unsubstantial because he's jealous that he didn't get to write it and point out the album's flaws in his own way. And as for Snipe, I can accept and respect his opinion but I believe he is taking every chance possible to express his ambivalence toward this album. We get it man, you don't like OMNI.
Then again, this is coming from a fanboy who has yet to listen to this album. I know, I know, I'm the one who submitted the news article about the stream but ironically my anxiousness, coupled with other new leaks, has prevented me from giving it a listen. So with that said, feel free to ignore everything I've said.

^^ How about not rating an album you haven't heard yet since it kinda makes you look like a douchebag.

....No, it makes me look like a fanboy (which I already clearly stated). Anyway I listened and I see where the negativity comes from as it has this completely different atmosphere and vibe to it than most fans are used to, but it's still a very good, concise album. At this point, I give it a 4.

I'm new to the Minus the Bear game, having only heard Knights and a couple other songs P.O.S. remixed back in the day and just getting Planet of Ice last week (which is seriously amazing by the way)..
but FUCK this album's good. Not in a mind-blowing, album of the year type way, but in a "I will play this loudly all summer long" type of way. Maybe I'll go down to a 3.5 with repeated listens (already spun it twice), but this is a solid 4 to me right now.

forever, where've you been? it takes a mildly disappointing minus the bear album to lure you out of obscurity?

I'm probably the only one that feels this way, but I'm getting a bit of a RHCP-vibe from this album. Summer Angel especially makes me think of By the Way. I'm just getting that similar, summery feeling that the more recent RHCP albums give me.

I might bump the rating, but it's no Planet of Ice. Some killer songs still.

It's a lot poppier than Planet of Ice if you ask me and the synths are much more prevalent.
It's still a very good album though, Secret Country is probably my favorite at the moment.
