lol, dude, keep twisting words around. for one, you never specified what time period they were to come from, in fact, you just asked me who i thought was a great metal guitarist, so i answered you. keep it up dude, ur quickly proving to everyone else on this site that you are not to be listened to

Dimebag has been playing guitar in Pantera since 1983, numbnuts. Plus, you know, other styles of metal have lyrics like that. Basing it on lyrics alone is not going to work.

I don't like Pantera either, but this comes off as super ranty.

No. You told me that many great metal guitarists were influenced by Dime, but half the list of what YOU (the person who stated his influence) consider great guitarists pre-date him.

How many of those years was he big enough to have even the most remote influence on half the guitarists nastynick mentioned?

Not just the riffs. The songwriting, the lyrics, the attitude. With lyrics like "I CRUSH YOUR RUSH!!! I RULE YOU, FOOL!!!", you can't say you've heard countless nu metal songs with that same idiotic bravado?

Um hello metal?

haha yeah, I didn't even think of that. What made nu metal originally was the incorporation of infusing rap and metal together. As I like to call it, mattress metal. Yes, the music is teen angsty, but the music in itself was more simplistic chord progressions with hip hop style drum beats, and a little rapping involved.

I think Dimebag influenced more of the NWOAHM bands like Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, etc. But I mean, even some people from all different types of metal are influenced by him.

You mean bands like Death, Immolation, Napalm Death, Kreator, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Candlemass, and Atheist have lyrics like that? News to me.

I am agreeing nasty here that Pantera is/was not nu metal. And they weren't nu metal, this is a ridiculous argument. Fail on

greenman's part. Let's move on.

This is a song in which
I use to describe what I feel
About people like you
No sense for humanity,
No idea about life
This premise has been proved
You used my trust to
Satisfy your brainless lust
Your word isn't worth more
Than a puke in a dust

[CHORUS]

Betrayer
Betrayer

Misleader, you twisted things
To satisfy
Deceiver, this greedy lust
You can't deny
How could I be so naive
To believe all the lies
You so easily told
I think I've learned my lesson
Too late
The story took time to unfold
Now I see your true face
Behind your mask, a cheat, a fake
Your word isn't worth than
Puke in a dust

Those are lyrics from Kreator's "Betrayer," and if you dont think those are angsty, then you are just as ignorant as every other metal elitist on this site

WOW I DIDNT KNOW THOSE WERE THE ONLY 8 OTHER METAL BANDS IN THE WORLD. The majority of metal (and especially metal bands with hardcore leanings/ideals a.k.a. Pantera) bands have dumb lyrics embracing the the whole mosh/bully culture.
