You're being sarcastic, right?

I feel like I could never 5 this because I would never have the time or patience to listen to the whole thing at once.

No not at all. This is brilliant. He wanted to do 100 songs initially but settled on 69.

An album that really is a sum of it's parts, showcasing all the different emotions and actions of love, with enough diversity in the music to not bore you. You could honestly listen to this in its 3 parts if the time deters you.

One of the best albums of the 90s man

Sounds like this must be essential indie pop despite the bloat.

Boney yes it is. Everything from them up to and including this album is pretty much essential. If an album for you is only about songs and cannot be mainly about concept you may dislike 69 Love Songs but I guarantee you their other pre-69 stuff is very satisfying regardless of your approach.

Starless Holiday is good but its synthpopish and well-crafted sound makes it more about the melody and entertainment than feeling imo. The raw bubbly bopply innocence of Distant Plastic Trees is far more emotional.

On a song by song basis this isn't their best, but the feeling of going through it, and the spectrum it captures (even with the less interesting songs) is unbelievable.

Get Lost's their best track for track, or maybe Charm of the Highway Strip, but this is numero uno overall

plastic trees is very good but wayward bus is better

and yeah i get that plastic trees is a bit more emotional, but holiday is unbelievably smart, romantic, concise and melodically some of the best stuff ive ever heard in the genre. they have a few releases that are close in quality buy i think holiday is the true standout
