I mean I do think YHF very, very slightly better, although I listen to this more, if that makes any sense. But this album gets criminally overlooked because of YHF.

YHF is their best as a whole but this has their best songs

Yeah that hits the nail on the head. This is just more fun to listen to.

Wilco are great but they've never come close to recording a classic, way too patchy, just not that sort of band. YHF and this are their best and hard 4's but nothing above that

@Doofus: Pitchfork gave YHF a 10 on initial release so you're objectively wrong.

Well yeah. "She's a Jar" definitely is not a total joke. These songs are fun but meaningful as well.

YHF has stuff I just find average like Drummer, reservations, pot kettle...even radio cure I've got to be in the mood. If the album was made up entirely of ashes/poor places/Jesus etc/war on war quality tunes then yes a 5. It isn't, far from it
This album is more a shitload of 4/5 songs, nothing wrong with that just again doesn't make a 5.
I'm a tough crowd.

damn Pot Kettle and Reservations are some of the best songs there imo
Poor Places is best tho

Boney - Pitchfork really wanted to spin a myth around 9/11 for an album and give a 10. YHF was that album.

And I love Heavy Metal Drummer as well. The difference is that YHF is definitely a really album, one whose songs (amazing as they are) work perfectly together. Summerteeth, while it also forms a great whole, is about equally enjoyable in pieces.

@Doofus: While I do actually believe it is a 5/5, 10/10, whatever, I was of course joking about Pitchfork there

I want to marry that opening riff from Can't Stand It. It's beautiful...
