can't get into any of their stuff past this album..

their first & TD are hard 4s imo. On the first songs like Lavinia and Talk Down the Girl are gorgeous and Total Depravity as a cohesive carries one of my favourite atmospheres in any recent indie rock albums.
But still, nothing as good as this

Listened to this for the first time in a while - this is such an insanely consistently brilliant album. It is relentless. One classic after another - Nux Vomica is still a strong top 10 of all time song

Calliope is one of my fave tracks ever, it pretty much broke me when I saw them play it live
|

I hope they come back to the UK soon - I missed them when they came Brighton last seeing the t/t live is basically a dream

"Not Yet" is fucking immense
|

Yeah man and fucking intense. Crazy how it's not even the most immense sounding thing on here, that goes to the t/t. What'd you think of the rest?

Title track is great but "Not Yet" floored me right away, ridiculously captivating song. Rest of the album is quality but I haven't solidified an opinion yet

Massive earworm for "Jesus for the Jugular" rn
LET HIM GO FROM ME!!!

I'm glad you seem to be enjoying this. The balance of sounds on here is perfection - how a three song run of the gorgeous 'under the folding branches', the pounding t/t (even that is an understatement) and then the classic chamber pop sound of 'One Night' is possible blows my mind
this is one of my big fan boy albums, no weak points on here.

Yeah I'm really digging this album, right now I prefer Total Depravity (which admittedly I'm considerably more familiar with) but not by much. Current thinking is borderline 3.5/4 and could easily climb
