All the Wine is fantastic! This might go up to a 4.5 in the future

Idk man, I just 5'd HV, Boxer, and this when it finally dawned on me that they all really have defined my life for the past 3 years or so at some point in time. Suddenly they just became a hell of a lot more special to me then they used to be.

I'd really have to fight with myself nowadays to say which of their albums would be my favorite but it'd honestly be Boxer>HV>Alligator... Alligator has some really strong songs but overall I like to listen to HV all the way through more.

I got into Boxer and Alligator around the same time...like Boxer, love Alligator.

High Violet is solid but sleepy...i dunno though, the version of this I got from a friend had a different track listing with Mr. November as track #1. I love the flow of the album this way compared to the actual listing

To me that's like blowing your load before you have sex lol... I'm not sure I'd like the most energetic song right away...

I've always been one for sleepy melodic tunes though so that's probably why HV is the perfect album The National could have released for me.

I think this lacks the maturity and cohesiveness of Boxer and Alligator, and that isn't a good thing for me.

Well if Boxer is about the time in life when you're maturing and starting to become a "real adult" wouldn't this be about the time before it with a little "immaturity" in the music? To me it's the perfect prequel to Boxer. Confident at times ("All the Wine") with doubt just starting to sink in at other times... especially the end in Mr. November ("This is nothing like it was in my room... in my best clothes").

And Enotron, you hit my favorite line of the album there.

"Serve me the sky with a big slice of lemon."

Might raise this to a 4.5 like I did Boxer and HV
The middle section from Daughters to All The Wine makes me reluctant to do so though

Dude, "Baby, We'll be Fine" and "Val Jester" are two of the best tracks on here. They're better than any of the first five I think.

Val Jester is a dud, Baby We'll Be fine is pretty good. The only song that I straight up dislike is Looking for Astronauts. There are so many great songs on here, and I love the energy. My second fave from them, I might 5 it eventually.
