I still think you're trollin, but I'll take the bait
We all hate this kind of music because:
1.Boring, generic breakdowns
2.Shitty vocals
3.Instrumentals that are the farthest thing from being original
4.Everything RosaParks said

^Now, I know not every band can be completely unique, but good bands at least manage to improve one or two aspects of their music from the genre standard. A band like I Am Abomination is nothing original, but they can get away with what they do with little criticism because their guitar playing is much better than that of their contemporaries. Parkway Drive really doesn't do anything too innovative but their vocalist is really good and so is their songwriting. In the right context, even the most generic breakdown can sound good, and Parkway is really good at fitting them into songs (at least on Horizons and Killing With a Smile).
The problem with Asking Alexandria is that they have nothing that they can call their own within their music. Nothing about the vocals are unique and nothing about the instruments are unique. Every single thing they do on here has been done before by another band, and in many cases the band they're ripping off did it better. That would be fine if they could actually write good songs, but they can't. There really isn't a single moment on here that is anything special.
If you think this is a 5 then what do you think of bands in the genre that are actually good? Bands like Aim for the Sunrise, The Color Morale, Feed Her to the Sharks and Jamie's Elsewhere are infinitely better than this piece of crap and they incorporate many of the same elements that you claim to love on here.

the lead guitarist whips out a couple of nice little tremolos but apart from that the guitar work is unbelievably sub par.

okay guys i am glad people responded to my novel thing and my comments finally lol ummm so I forgot that I DO realize some things that AA does that are not very good and have been done before but i just forgot because i was too busy defending this genre so anyways some things i dont like that are reused constantly are: same key for every song, same sounding singing parts, not very complex guitar, and most of the things you guys said...so, sorry for not agreeing before, but yeah im going to change my rating...cause yeah I guess there ARE flaws...but umm yeah shortone323 i agree somewhat, but they do execute their music well...and yeah sspedding you are right I do like those nice tremolos haha
but with that being said...and me realizing my view on this band was not very thought out...should I continue with my band that does techno and metalcore and high singing (a lot of the time) and the usuals, but with not your average guitar (except there are many breakdowns...but they are not all the same and we play A# tuning), tremelo deathcore sounding stuff (Miss May I does it some), and cool riffs (not omg fast sweeping, but good), and with complex drums, solid bass, wide range of good screams, gutterals even occasionally (with HEAVY breakdowns...we do play in A# you know), and wings of plague kind of orchestral things a lot of the time (along with "gay" techno haha...but not so it doesnt fit the music sound)...and other things like that...but putting our own spin on all of those things and making all of our songs epic and each having its own special "trait/sound"...or that's the idea I have with writing our music...so do you think we would have a more accepting response from some people...or is it a good idea so you think? I want us to be a "breakthrough" band in this scene...=)

They execute their music well in the sense that it's simple and kind of hard to actually mess up considering they likely had ample time to record it.
As for your band, it really comes down to songwriting. Nothing that Asking Alexandria does makes a song bad just because it's there. The songs are bad because everything is boring and nothing is interesting. I think you have the right idea with your approach for your band. Focus on trying to cut out parts that are boring whenever possible and try to make every song unique (which you say you're doing). If you have any demos or anything, I wouldn't mind listening to them and giving you some feedback.
Also, listen to Feed Her to the Sharks if you haven't yet. Their sound is really, really good and they avoid practically all of the pitfalls that make people hate music within this genre. The biggest thing you should take away from listening to their album is that: 1) breakdowns are usually boring by themselves, unless they are built up to (The end of "When One Was Desolate" by the Color Morale is a perfect example of a breakdown this is made by its buildup, as is most of Parkway Drive's material) and adding a riff in the background does wonders for making even the most generic breakdown sound fresh. Also note that they consistently have parts in their songs that make the you want to come back and listen to them, and pay attention to their songwriting. Every song contains its own feel and minimizes repetition (both within the song and within the album).
Good luck.
