Album rules so much, and that says a lot for the music seeing as the dynamics on the CD are pretty poor

A good album- I've been an AIC fan from pretty much the start and I think this is just about as good as anything they could hope to release without Staley. When AIC stopped releasing records I really dug Cantrells solo work, of course, so in listening to this new AIC record that's where my biggest conflict arises. This is all pretty much just a Cantrell solo project, but a good one. On the great majority of these tracks all you can really decipher is Cantrell vocally. If any AIC album was going to be released after the death of Staley it would most certainly be in his shadow and a kind of homeage to him. I think this new album pays tribute to him well and really deals with the pain of his loss in a powerful way. I just hope that the next album will be a full throttle 'turn-the-page' record that will feature a more prominent lead vocal duty by Duvall to make this a more distinct record, and not feeling so much like a Cantrell solo project. I've seen the new AIC live and Duvall can sing his heart out. I really hope the new AIC can showcase that at some point.

The bassline on 'A looking in view' is so simple yet so catchy...

So, 2 songs in this really feels like a 4 already. You can barely tell that Duvall is singing which makes it 1000x better.
