Agreed, it sounds pretty great.

Anyone’s Daughter is a real oddity, and doesn’t quite sound like anything else Deep Purple ever did before or after. Apparently Ritchie Blackmore had been toying around with a country riff, which kept floating around in his head. When he showed it to the rest of the boys, Gillan came up with some fitting lyrics, and Deep Purple’s strangest track was born. It is great fun hearing it one or two times, but the appeal quickly disappears, and Anyone’s Daughter becomes a skipper. Another lower point on the album is No No No, which is unfortunately plagued by slightly annoying lyrics and being too repetitive. It could have well been cut some shorter from the more than 6 minutes it became.
Both songs are pretty cool imo, but yeah, opinions.

"No One Came" is such an awesome closer.

Given the time, this might become my fave DP studio LP.
Such a pleasure to listen to.

Agreed. It's squeezed between In Rock and Machine Head and it's a bit overshadowed but those two albums. Nevertheless, it's as vital to their discog as In Rock and MH.

Anyone's Daughter is by far one of their most underrated songs, Gillan has such a beautiful voice on that one and Blackmore's guitar sounds so sweet

Oh yeah. It was actually going to be an outtake but Gillan insisted and got included in the end.

I think this might actually be my favourite DP studio album these days.

Gotta love the bluesyness.

I've only ever listened to Machine Head, but I picked up a majority of their 60s and 70s stuff recently in an effort to delve further into Deep Purple. This is my first non-Machine Head experience, as far as full albums go.
pretty fucking killer

These guys pretty much set the basis for thrash and (though I don't like it much) power metal.

Nah, Rainbow developed power metal ( along with prog metal and neo classic)
|

That may be true, but these guys were pretty much pioneers when came to being both loud & fast.
