Fire, quit acting like a brat because we have differing opinions. If it wasn't for the Agalloch reference in your name I'd assume you were just a douchebag. But I refuse to believe douchebags listen to Agalloch so you're in the clear. You can have a little sigh of the relief now, yw. And since I'm just soaring over your head here: I rating the album a 5/5 temporarily because, as I stated in my sound-off, people were initially rating the album low based on a really lousy pre-master leak (not counting any staff that may have had the proper release at that time). I call this pre-release buzzkill. People putting an album down before they've even heard the finished product. This album is without a doubt NOT 5/5 material. And as soon as the album is released I'll be giving it my honest rating. Since Sputnik comes up in search results quite often I figured I'd cut the band some slack and counteract people who haven't even heard the official release dragging the rating down. WE COOL NOW BRO?

"frankly I don't know why you assume I heard the leaked version compared to a promo copy, and yes it's just as bad in my opinion." - Because I wasn't aware everyone and their brother had tha hook-up... unless the promo leaked I'm just not in the loop. But yeah, I'm not expecting miracles from the official release. In fact, the only thing that would save it is if "mastering" meant removing a couple of the tracks and replacing them with entirely different tracks.

I thought it was a solid album, but yeah this sounds like the same old Insomnium. Nothing really new to the mix besides the clean vocals which are decent at best. I still find it enjoyable to listen to.

Melodeath has basically worn out it's welcome for me.



As for insomnium, sure they're good, but for some reason whenever they're mentioned someone is kissing their ass hardcore. To quote my friend they sound like an even more melodramatic Dark Tranquillity with Amon Amarth vocals. Its just like a been there done that for me. Yawn.

I'm not exactly "over' melodeath, but I don't feel the need to buy another album that sounds exactly like another three albums (at least) that I already have. There are still a few innovative bands, but not many.

'The New Beginning' is such a great song. One of the 2 bonus tracks, and I'm starting to like it more than anything off the album itself (but then again, I'm a keyboard lover).

The other one, 'Into the Evernight', is just a different version of 'At The Gates of Sleep'
