I like Anthrax a lot more than Slayer, but that's just because I'm not a big Slayer fan except for their first 3 records

Slayer have the speed, but not enough depth and lasting power for me to be fully invested compared to the other Big 4 bands

Where would you put classic Metallica?

'Tallica has gradually become my least fave out of the 4, mostly because I'm not a big fan of them post-MoP, but also because I'm not a fan of Hammett's leads and Lars's drumming. Plus, overall I feel the other 3 made more interesting music.

However, KEA has become one of my all-time fave metal albums (though I'm in the minority there) and all their first 3 albums rule hard.

its the best although it kinda pains me to admit is somehow.

Anthrax resonates with me far more than any of the other 3.

Metallica (first 3) is the most accessible, Slayer has the most riffs and that darkness in spades, Megadeth riffs for days and has the slightly more progressive aspect, but Anthrax has Belladonna, larger than life riffs, and actually backed up their classic "we don't give a tin shit" attitude by doing what they wanted (ie: collab with PE and Beasties as well as just writing songs about what they liked as well as what they hated)

This is my fave out of each of the Big 4's 5th albums, although I'm sure few agree with me there.

Possibly. My fave Anthrax is Spreading the Disease by a wide margin. I am a huge fan of Sound of White Noise, fucking beastly album that is.

I am with you on SOWN, it gets all kinds of flack but its one of my favourite albums of all time, I 5d it.

Spreading the Disease is best Anthrax agreed

not sure what would be 2nd for me, probably either Fistful of Metal or Among the Living

also agreed that Sound of White Noise rules, it gets underrated by metal elitists

Think I have it at a 4.5 but I could easily justify 5ing the fuck out of it.

I'll review it eventually, and I'll pour my soul into it cause its one of the first 5 albums I ever owned.

I know this is technically Anthrax's 5th album (and Seasons is Slayer's 5th), but if we're talking Countdown to Extinction and the Black Album, I think the more appropriate comparisons are Divine Intervention and Sound of White Noise

Yeah, or even Diabolus In Musica.

That was basically Slayer's "Black Album" or SOWN.

of those 3 I'd say...

1. Sound of White Noise

2. Diabolus

3. Metallica

I would've grouped Diabolus in with Load and Youthanasia (and Stomp 442) lol

all subjective obviously
