I haven't heard or read of this website until today. Maybe the horrible reviews contribute to that. No quotes of any of the songs. I must ask did you skim through the album a couple of times or did you actually listen to it?

wlalala isn't far off from how I feel. I agree with his assessment minus a few overratings. I'd drop each song by song rating about a point.

no quotes from the songs makes it a bad review because i mean every review needs song quotes

you don't like this review because you disagree with the rating and that's all it comes down to really

In almost every professional review of a Hip-Hop album, the author explains what's positive or negative by explaining why. How do they do this? With quotations.

The review was so poorly written, I jump to the conclusion that the author barley gave it a listen as it did not meet his expectations (Which I find to be pathetic).

no i'm pretty sure the reviewer thought this was going to be awful realised when listening to it that actually he kinda enjoyed it but knows that really it sucks & that it's by no means a good album and john hanson has been all ratings don't matter recently and writes slightly 'different' reviews nowadays but hey i mean if it doesn't meet your expectations well too bad sucker

This website has little to no credibility with Hip-Hop. How is "Me Against the World" not a classic on this website? "Reasonable Doubt"? How come when I type in "The Notorious B.I.G." in the search bar I get no results? The website lacks staff reviews for some of the most certified staples in Hip-Hop music. "Illmatic" being one of them. The Rolling Stones magazine is far more credible than this website in terms of origins in Rock. This Message Edited On 05.19.09

How come when I type in P. Diddy in the search bar it doesn't come up?
Because like Biggie he has like 25 names. It's called hip-hop

yeah staff tend to cover new releases, hence why there are two user reviews for it...oh wait, they are both 5's and the average rating is 4.5

It's common for artists in general, not just rappers to have aliases. One thing is for certain, they do have one name that they legally own. In that case, it's "The Notorious B.I.G.".

Either way, the search engine of the website is too sensitive. Nine times out of ten, users will search for "The Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls, or Biggie". I don't have this problem with other music sites, iTunes, Wikipedia, and of course Google.

As I typed this, I searched for "A Tribe Called Quest" and the group appeared. What's the golden rule here?

I agree with you. There's artists better than Jay-Z and Nas as we're entitled to our own opinions, but going against the grain certified classics for a website that's just begining to enter the genre of Hip-Hop, is not a fresh start.

But from what I understand in life, having a decent resume establishes what one's capabilities are. If this review of Eminem's album wasn't so poorly written and judged by the standards of other publications, I wouldn't even be trying to dig up older albums. There's always room for improvement.

just spell the name of the artist right, it really isn't that difficult. You are right that "The" should be inserted before "Notorious B.I.G." in the database though.

Someone's butt clearly hurts due to the rating this review gives Relapse and as a consequence is criticizing the whole site.

If you dislike the quality of the reviews why don't you get to it? The site always welcomes new reviewers, especially in a genre like hip-hop that is, on the whole, rather unloved.

I don't know, I think hip-hop is starting to get quite a lot of love around here (talking about the less mainstream acts)

Definitely is growing. Kingsoby is doing a good job of reviewing hiphop and bringing less mainstream artists to people's attention as well.

I'm just saying in comparison to your peers in the editorial community, the review of Relapse has little weight. I believe this website could improve on that if there weren't so many off the wall reviews on the site.

Just because you can't find a staff review of Relapse that you agree with doesn't mean this one isn't a well informed and well written one.
