Yeah, just saw that you still have Rock as a genre on your pie chart Ross. That's just too strange. I definitely did not delete a whole bunch of ratings & I doubt the bands I had in that portion (Foo Fighters, Saliva, Birds of Tokyo, Skunk Anansie, etc...) would have been altered. Hmmm, one for the forum bugs me thinks.

Righteo gyro. 'Scars' is probably Papa Roach's most well-known song to the mainstream from their previous album 'Getting Away With Murder'. If you liked 'Forever', you should definitely also like that. The only reason why the likes of MetalStyles doesn't like 'Scars' is because radio overplayed it.

'Getting Away With Murder', totally forgot about that one, that was the first song I heard from Papa Roach. I actually liked that one, a lot. I'll check 'Scars' out too.

Davey: What I will say is that my 'Alternative rock' segmant has increased a lot of late and I notice yours has too, maybe a lot of bands have just been changed to that.

You'll love it gyro... You'll be singing "I tear my heart open..." before you know it.

Yeah, that could be it I guess Ross. Although the bands I mentioned aren't really Alt-Rock apart from maybe Birds of Tokyo.

I tear my heart open,
and sow myself shut.
And my weakness is,
that I care too much.
And these Scars remind us,
that the past is real.
I tear myself open,
just to feel.

I remembered all those lyrics and I haven't heard the song for oh so long...yeah, i used to love that song.

Ooh, we have a discrepancy on the 2nd line. Is it "sow myself shut" OR "sold myself short"...???

Album Rating: 4.5 | Sound Off

"Yeah, good stuff for putting that up. I really am unsure you justified a 4.5 rating to be honest. In a way, I get what you mean about 'Into The Light', as many of the songs build up well enough, but then fall flat. As for 'The Paramour Sessions' being nu-metal, I disagree with that. Did you only hear 'Wanna Be Loved', because the rest of that LP really doesn't sound anything like their true nu-metal phase on 'Infest'?"

Infest was horrid. I listened to about 6 songs of Paramour Sessions, and yeah Wanna Be Loved was the worst of the bunch. I guess I shouldn't have generalized the whole album as nu-metal, but it also had an annoying punkish sound to it, and I find most punk and nu-metal to be obnoxious beyond belief. I guess it still had too much of the Infest sound to it, while Metamorphosis leaves that old sound for good.

The rating... yeah I get what you mean. It doesn't read like a 4.5 because I tried to avoid sounding like a crazed fanboy.

It does dissapoint me to think about Into The Light.... that could have been so special, Mick's solo was absolute aces, but the chorus was a buzzkill.

Okay Dave, lol, I think I know the song you're talking about now. I've heard it on the radio before.

Meh, Papa Roach is my favorite band but even i admit this album is kinda dissapointing..,,i just feel these songs have no depth other then the last 2 songs like the reviewer said...although i enjoyed change or die, I almost told u i love u, lifeline n had enough...non of these are all time favs nor do they stay in rotation for long...def dissapointing.

Great Song: NIghts of love...why? cuz jacoby sounds sincere in this song.

Infest was their best album no questions ask ...its just heavy yet catchy, and they resonate thoughts...it goes without saying that the lyrics werent as bad as they are now ...wait..the lyrics on metamorphosis are horrid -_-

And saying that the Paramour Sessions is "NU" Metal is like saying The Offsping's last album is heavy metalThis Message Edited On 04.13.09

JE34, you really need to listen to all of 'The Paramour Sessions' before generalizing on it. Especially since I made particular mention of that album's closer on this review. As for 'Infest', well it was what it was. The music scene was a lot different when that album was released and it fit right in with the Limp Bizkit's & Linkin Park's of this world. "Cut my life into pieces..."

No disrespect meant to you MetalStyles. I just know some people who don't like 'Scars' simply because radio overplayed it. I really don't see it as much different from 'Forever'.

ALEXANJAH1, very well summed up & considering you rate Papa Roach so highly, then I think you are being very honest. If there is one song that is a real grower on this LP, it is indeed 'Nights of Love' for the reason you state. The lyrics are indeed disappointing throughout the album & LOL at your Offspring comment.

As for which is their best album, I'd probably lean to 'Paramour' just ahead of 'Infest'. As you say though, they are rather different releases.

I agree on pretty much everything you said there, except i personally forever is considerably better than scars. a little catchier, a little less poppy, and a little more heartfelt
