I rec'd this to a friend who enjoys jazz influence more than I do. Don't see it growing much for me though.

This went from a 2.5 to a 4 for me when I started to enjoy the vocals.

Are you people fucking kidding me? NO ONE here has noticed the MAJOR parallels/references throughout the lyrics, based upon the EPIC show "Lost"? I literally made an account to comment solely on this. I don't understand how every comment on this album failed to mention the show once. I mean shit, there is a song titled 'ANNA LUCIA'. And I'm not even going into detail on the way the album story-line, and the the entirety of the show, co-exist. I don't know maybe you people are too lazy, don't give a fuck, haven't seen the show, or are just fucking retarded.

This might be my favorite album of 2009. A year and a half too late.

uh, that is why I said "parallels/references". Obviously, the comparisons are not fully explicit. And also it seems that it is fairly obvious, the band is using their own experiences, "toronto, new orleans" settings, and applying/comparing them indirectly to the principles and themes that make up the show. Such as questions of "fate, luck, death, TIME". And there are numerous names dropped throughout each song such as ,"ben","Ana-Lucia","kate", " jack", "lock", "nigel", etc. that seemed to be thrown into the lyrics for wordplay. I don't know if the band even watched the show but my first impression of the album was reference to the underlying concepts and themes within the show.

Evidently, Jerry is a big Lost fan and the name "Anna-Lucia" is derived from the character on the show. However, "Ben" is a friend of his who did in fact die. "Nigel" is the lead singer of The Natalie Fight and is featured on a bunch of Trophy Scars songs.

Great show, great album.
