You think the album is better than MoP and RtL for the ballads? The whole album?

I Like the Whole Album, not just the Ballads. The songs have more of a variety than MOP and RTL also.

True, but this album doesn't really have a song that just absorbed me for weeks at a time. MoP, RtL and AJfA all have that. Sanitarium, For Whom the Bell Tolls and Blackened.

I'm sorry but this album is one of the most overated albums of all time. It had impact for sure but for what the impact was it breathed life back into music with oxygenated carbon-slowly poisoning metal into something along the lines of nu metal. I think it deserves a high status but Master of Puppets is a far superior album and Ride the Lightning is better as well. I do rate Black but in no way think this is as good as people say, I give it a 4 out of 5, but that's closer to 3.8/5- above average by a fair bit but let down by the fact that I think half of the songs sound slightly lazy and was a sign of things to come in the Load, Re load and ST Anger albums (from above average to bloody terrible).

If its popular in the first place its because its good. I agree its not their best but its definately a great album.

I think it is their best accually. It's hard to explain, but these songs capture me much more then anything on their other cd's. Master of puppets is close though.
