Yeah, I gotta say the couple of suburbs we stayed in were pretty ordinary. But the centre of the city is perfect for tourists (apart from the gypsys & all their games).

Barcelona, Nice, Prague, Venice, London, Lisbon, Bordeaux, Porto, Siena, Bruges, Edinburgh (and Moscow and Saint Petersburg if you can include them) are all better than Paris and that's a semi-drunken list of a guy who's only travelled to half of Europe maximum.
