yeah tbh everything ive heard from them has been at least solid, in fact their 80s demos are arguably the most impressive since theyre already hinting at the style of this album back when death metal was very much in its infancy, back when atheist were still called ravage and sounded more primitive comparatively speaking... and everything after this album, well, they never dumbed it down or changed to a more generic sound

surprisingly consistent band all in all

Yeah, it's worth to get their 10 lp discography boxset as it includes all their partly hard to find studio releases as well as 4 unreleased live lps and two LPs of rehearsals. Rehearsals and early live LPs are an acquainted taste due to their 'production' but 2 of the live LPs are incredible too, perfectly transporting the complete mayhemic energetic pummeling combined with technical proficiency (that drumming!!!) in a primordial in your face way...

Glad I checked this. Reminiscent of Atheist which can never be a bad thing, probably.

I don't know, stuff like their '86 demo is overhyped but the following one in '87 is pretty significant.

Yeah, I also prefer listening to the '87 demo. The '86 demo IMO is awesome as it is. But looking at it in the context of the time it was released is downright mindblowing. So much ahead of it's time!

Agreed on these guys kind of being trail blazers. Someone recommended their early stuff to me when I was first really diving into the extreme stuff and I was blown away at the time. I remember reading on a forum that on one of their earliest recordings the drummer used pillows to substitute for a specific part of the drum kit because he was missing it or had yet to buy one lol probably a bullshit story but for some reason out of the many things I've read in life that one has stayed stored in my brain for absolutely no reason at all
