Kill I'm a frequent RYM user, actually i already looked at that list 10 minutes ago and compared it to the 70s and 90s one and indeed there were way more albums I'm interested in in those two.

Bands like The Cure and R.E.M. fall into the "haven't actively listened to most of their albums but have heard most of their songs via radio/parents" category.
I'm not saying there isn't any good 80s stuff, of course there is, it's just that as a decade it doesn't interest me to the same degree as most others do.

Isn't your mum a smiths fan? Get her on here.

Hell, according to RYM from just the small amount of 80s albums I know my average rating is 0.2 lower than my average rating for the 2000s in which I know several times more albums; given how little 80s I know it should be the other way around.

Don't get me started on the 2000s

When 1 of your 4 ratings for 1987 is A Momentary Lapse of Reason, you know it's time to dig a little

Sandwich I've heard a lot of stuff from Pandora stations my mom used to listen to, she was a huge R.E.M., Cure, Smiths, Cocteau Twins, Joy Division etc fan back in the day.

Six again there are definitely specific bands I'm interested in in the 80s but I'm not terribly interested in doing a deep dive attempt to listen to everything I can in the decade.
