If stating my opinion, Eak, on something is fanboyish then I guess anyone who has an opinion on something is a fanboy. You said it yourself....opinion. You think the vocals on My Apocalypse are bad, I think they're pretty good. Granted his original style was way better. I only came back at you because your comment seemed without explaination, but I see your side now. Also, I don't think this album is good only because it's better than the previous piece of shit, but because it's better than the last several pieces of shit they've put out. I don't like it because its Metallica, I like it because I think it's good.

Don't twist my words. You didn't simply state your opinion. You told me my comments on the instrumentation were "crazy." You told me that you didn't know what I was talking about with the vocals. You came across in a very fanboyish manner.
And I might also add that you defended Lars' sad excuse for drumming, haha.

All of the Metallica albums after ...AJFA are underrated,and especially on this site.Black 3.9?C'mon,its worth a 4 at least.Load 2.9?Okay maybe not their finest hour but it is much better than average (a solid 3 perhaps?),St Anger 2.1?Hmm...I can understand why many don't like it,but in my opinion it is better than both Load and Reload...combined!But i think it definitely deserves a three,but not much better.And this with a mere 3.7?Okay,so maybe I'm letting my immense appreciation of the band get a bit in the way here,but this album is quite possibly the best Metal album of the year (Opeth's release disappointed me  ).Sure,flame me if you must/care,but this is a very decent effort,and the closest i think we'll ever see to a complete return to form.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions,so I won't criticize that,but this is mine.

if metallica were even metal any more, that might make calling this metal album of the year a little more realistic. that aside, everything about this is pretty bad. the drumming, the lack of metal, Hetfield’s vocals, the boring riffs, the horrendous lyrics, etc. In my opinion, the only song worth listening to is All Nightmare Long, and it's just pretty good at best

Great review and a great album. While this isn't the 80s and 90s Metallica, Death Magnetic is still definitly an incredible album.

Dave, the review is pretty good, but I must comment about the use of "Jaymz". I know, I know. But it is pretty unprofessional if we are being honest. Maybe it's just me, but you - as one of the senior writers from this site - should try to be as professional as possible, and intentionally spelling names incorrectly doesn't seem to be projecting an image of professionalism. Or maybe I'm just neurotic about spelling and grammar and should be quiet.
