other noteworthy related acts like crash of Rhinos, football etc, early You Blew It!, william bonney, merchant ships, crucial dudes, hightide hotel, park jefferson, runaway brother, coping, street smart cyclist/john galm solo, dogs on acid (former algernon members), I love your lifestyle, CSTVT, sports., Their / They're / There, everyone everywhere, joie de vivre, posture & the grizzly (past glocca morra), two knights, wavelets (pre-dikembe), grown ups, stippling, palmkite, grandview, nai harvest......most of these I tried to keep less popular, pre 2014/15 and actually worth "emo" bands that aren't the main ones u always see. There too many pre 2007 emo bands tho before the revival

Crash of Rhinos and Merchant Ships were cool. Also liked Wayne Szalinski
but i find a lot of the bands you mentioned indistinguishable from eachother.

Ye, something about the singer's voice in TBLA I find terribly off-putting, nauseating even. Like, I get that's part of the shtick, has been since the days of Cap'n Jazz. But Kinsella's vocals (and this guy's, whoever he is) sound legitimately strained and, while whiny indeed, evoke a rawness that fits well with both the music itself and the lyrical themes. TLBA dude sounds like he's plugging his nose the whole time and almost trying too hard to emulate sounding shitty instead of...uh, idk just embracing his actual shittiness and I suppose I'd take whiny and cracking over nasally and cracking any day. Also think Algernon is simply better at crafting an earworm; TBLA's songwriting is marginally superior (in terms of musical complexity) but that doesn't really amount to much in this genre space imo.
