It was while singing along to the end of Hide in Your Shell and then the t/t outro too. They know how to build a song!

That outro to Crime Of The Century tho! ...saw them play it live once. Everyone in the audience was screaming and clapping through the song, until that ending started. Then the theatre went dead quiet. You could have heard a pin drop. Everyone was caught up in that piano. Then, slowly, people lit their lighters until the entire theatre looked like it was lit by candlelight. It made the hair on my arms stand straight up. It was one of those rare times when I felt like the whole audience was connected--very moving.

Breakfast In America tour, '79, they played most (if not all) of the Crime Of The Century album that year.

Yeah, old timers are hard to find on sput these days. I met some others with the years but they all left the site. e210013 is probably the elder, followed by myself or...TWIG?
I was also there in that Breakfast in America tour. It was my first show The setlist should have been looking like this;

@TWIG, I can really feel your description of the performance of song Crime of the Century. I guess it happened sensibly the same way in each and every stadium in that tour. Now that you're talking about that, I can barely remember those feelings about their playing of the title song. I tip my hat to you for having in memory all these feelings from 1979. What a haunting fade out that song has though...

@ Jethro: I saved all my ticket stubs, concert reviews, and related Rolling Stone magazine articles--plus I wrote my own opinions and saved them too. That's a big reason why I remember half the concerts I went to. I took notes, lol.

a perfect 5. One of the greatest prog albums ever made, complex, dark, lyrical genius... and the ending... is just one of the 3 best endings ever.

^ yeah man it is fantastic. I mean it's not terribly complex, but it is for an album boasting so many great pop hooks.
