Love how they're not afraid to change their sound regularly

Well, they weren't, anyway. The last three albums have sounded pretty similar.

Their last album sounds pretty different than the two prior offerings.

I guess WS and DS weren't big departures, but I guess they didn't want to take major risks after their lengthy hiatus. Hopefully they change things on the next one. Hopefully they start working on it soon

@ksoflas: It was similar imo, with some more electronic elements. And perhaps it was darker

This album totally sucks.

There is no atmosphere,no loss,no pain,no misery and ofcourse no sleepless nights in any release after alternative 4.Judgment was just ok..after that there is nothing interesting

I think that in the way to evolution Anathema totally changed their musical style and became a mainstream band who tried to approach a larger group of audience with easy listening music. It s ok though but i dont think that as evolution. This band has nothing to do with the Anathema of Eternity. They became a totally different band from the old Anathema. They could even change their name and no one would ever notice

I prefer the evolution of Ulver and Wolves in the Throne room

Anathema's music sound like a melancholic sniff sniff in a teen romantic movie..oh god im gonna cry.

Like taking a stroll on memory lake, thinking about the bad stuff, the painful stuff, some of the good things as well. Searching for the things that makes you keep going in life.

That's what listening to this album feels like. And personally I went through a lot of emotional highs and lows in the past couple of months. Jamming to Anathema helped tremendously to channel my feelings.

Lol. Judgement is distinctly their best album and how you can claim that A Natural Disaster has no atmosphere is beyond me

Such an underrated album. Breaking Down The Barriers is moody and atmospheric as fuck.

I think this might be the bands best. When it’s good (Release, Underworld, Pressure, A Fine Day to Exit) it really is classic stuff.
