You need certain hypnotic mood for funeral doom to do its work. Having some warm up, with similar vibe but already known songs, is a good idea.

i haven't listened to this in too long. the climax of "quickening" is just unbelievable. that heavy riff whose motif morphs into this winding, seemingly endless epic passage is a stroke of pure genius.
