All these other new guys are turning this into a Blabbermouth review forum. Ugly as hell.

Anyway, in my opinion this CD was just tedious and felt like I was doing homework listening to this. It was very much like when you are forced to read a book because it is by an influential author and you hate it the whole way through. That sums up how I felt, and I liked Angel of Retribution, I really did. This album was just atrocious.

Case closed, and pointtopoint, just shut up, joking or not.

it was a good party, lots of coke and hookers. I watched most of it from outside the window though.

I really liked this. The Priest are old, but they still rock.
Halford's voice has improved with age, IMO

Seriously? The dude sounded great up until his solo album Crucible. I dunno what happened between that and Angel of Retribution but his voice is definitely weaker since about 02/03.

I still haven't explored any of the Fight' or 'Halford' releases yet. Although, I was lucky enough to see part of a 'Fight' show at a small club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina , shortly after hitting legal drinking age. I don't remember much about the gig, except its uber-unacceptable volume level....There's absolutely no reason for that kinda amperage in a small club. Type of show where you're left deaf until mid-morning.

Funny thing about that night is that me and my buddy were buying drinks for a quad of girls at a different, much larger, club prior to 'Fight'. All four of these dames were smokin' hot. In fact, they were so attractive, tall and busty that they could have been models...or strippers. And, they seemed to be lovin' our New York accents. So, me and Pete think that we're all 'in' with this cast of Southern lasses, and that it will be just a matter of time until we have at least two of 'em back at the hotel and succumbing to our unsavory advances.

So, it's closing in on 11:00 p.m. and I suggest to the now slightly drunk girls that we move the party back to the hotel for plenty more drinking and a wee wittle swim in ze pool. Me and Pete had been high fiving each other over the prospect of seeing these belles in the water, donning just shorts and a T-shirt. The image has got me and Pete pitchin' tents in our own shorts. We usually did well on vacations/spring breaks, but never with four girls of this caliber. We were all psyched up for what might be coming next.

I didn't hear the girl's initial reply to my proposition, so I asked again. "You guys wanna get outta here and go hang out at our hotel?"....."Oh, we're sorry. We can't. We have to go to work...like, now." "Work? It's 11:00. That's silly. You're silly. A silly kidder." "No seriously, all four of us have to split now or we'll be late." "What kinda job requires that you come in at 11:00 at night?" - - - "We're dancers across the street at 'The Doll House'".......No!!!!! We had just dropped a hundred dollars and the bulk of our dirty drunken dreams on a group of girls that were just killing a little time before they would take off all of their clothes for a bunch of sweaty, horny guys....much like ourselves. We had been duped. Blinded by the awesomeness of the pink pooter. But, we eventually did score some ladies later on that evening. And, I'm sure that they were a couple of scary hurters compared to what we begun with....That's just a poor twist o' luck, my friends....But, you know what Dre and Snoop D-O double G says about it, "North Myrtle and Myrtle together, now you know you in trouble.' Straight up, B.

I have no idea why exactly I told that story, other than I'm high. But, I hope someone out there found it amusing. I really came back here to say that I'm thoroughly disappointed at this most recent JP recording and gave it a final rating of '2.5'. By no means, is it 'poor'. Nothing JP ever did should be seen as poor. But, this Nostradamus thing is most certainly 'average'. Everything about the piece is 'average'. A few of the tunes are above average. But, the overall effect of the record is so very mundane. Totally uninspired. They begun with the wrong approach and no corrections were made along the way.

I just went through a JP listening block this afternoon and night and I'm now thoroughly convinced that 'Angel of Retribution' is among the band's very 'best' work. The writing on that effort is comparable to the other big winners in the JP discog. If anyone has doubts about this, I would suggest pulling that bad boy out again and giving it another couple of spins. Now that the catalog is fresh in my mind, I would claim that the following five records are the band's absolute best stuff.

1. Stained Class

2. Sin After Sin

3. Angel Of Retribution

4. Painkiller

5. Sad Wings Of Destiny

With things like British Steel and Screaming For Vengeance following shortly behind this lot above. And, I'm of the opinion that stereotypical 80's production techniques hampered and diluted the vast majority of Metal recordings from the era; removing most of the pristine punch of the Bass guitar and many times relegating the six-strings to the back of the mix. You screw with the bass and you take the 'heavy' right out of Heavy Metal. And, who was it that thought that a slick, glossy sheen on the guitars of Tipton and Downing was somehow a good move? Metal recordings should sound dirty. The effect should be somewhat like an early 'rough mix'. Sounding great, but giving the listener the appearance of things left unfinished. Knobs and levers left untouched. Compression unattempted. Metal producers should take their cue from the production philosophy capsulized in one lone sentence on the back of Metallica's 'Breadfan' single, which reads: "Not Very Produced by Metallica".

Should just stick to concerts like Mike said, should have let Angel Of Retribution be the last album. I still enjoy the album, just not worth getting hyped over.

Why can't I post a comment in the forums? Do you need some kind of upper level clearance card or somethin? After I log in and try to post, I keep getting the bit about not having permission to access this page. So, who fills out my permission slip? Can I get away with forging my own slip on the bus ride to school?

Is there an Admin/Mod to talk to? Besides the denial of posting priviliges, I noticed this on the bottom of one of the threads:

What's up with that, yo?

Alright, it's now several very warm hours later. It was near hundred percent humidity in New York today and I remained outside for the majority of the day, speaking to the neighbor lady and her young, tight, taut H.S. graduate girlie. Yummy. I came in periodically and tried to load the Sputnik main page to no avail. It wouldn't load for hours.....I've been coming here for a few weeks now and this has happened several times already. The site refuses to load. I wanna know what's up with dat? And, is this a common occurence for others? And, why can't I post in the forums? And, why does love often turn to hate in the long-term relationships I've had?

Server traffic gets high, server crashes, stays down for a few hours, sometimes a day or two. Happens regularly. Not much you can do.

I know that there's not much that 'I' can do, but you would think that there's plenty that others can do to remedy this. What kind of server are we talking about here? Some ol' beat-up PC tower under a bloke's desk? There's no reason for these multi-hour to double-day crashes like the ones you're speaking of. It's unacceptable and I won't stand for it.........lol. I might sit down and wait patiently, but I'm certainly not standing for this.

Dude, calm down here and show a bit of sympathy for the site creators. Sometimes you just have to respect what is happening and realise that they're going to fix this as soon as they can.
In the meantime, use your spare time off site to learn some manners, write some reviews and keep out of trouble.
