Finally a reviewer who says the truth about Watershed....I still think the departures of Lopez and Lindgren afected too much Opeth, and i dont think that Mikael is running out of ideas, maybe the other 2 aren't what Opeth needs, specially Axe.

My review of this was negged without explanation... but then again, I expected that. Whatever.
I was aiming my comments more toward the defensive fanboys of Opeth, not you Wizard because you are mature enough to respect an opinion, unlike other people.

People who have no justification for hating on someones well backed up opinion will never discover how much music is truly out there, and therefore their music tastes will never mature. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
I have a couple of buddies who swear that Zakk Wylde is the greatest guitarist in the world. I think I've lost every argument I ever tried to have with them about why he's a wanker of a guitarist. And for that fact, they will never be able to grasp anything more musically satisfying outside of their music bubble.

I have never been a huge Opeth fan, but people say this is their most accessible album. Would this be a good starting place for Opeth?

I have many friends that just listen to singles only, a lot of them which think heaviness means everything (people that like TDWP and bands like that), that wouldn't be able to tell you what technicality or intricacy in music is - or what it means to any real music lover, at that.This Message Edited On 06.29.08

I would have to agree with what people say about this album being accessible. So.......... yes to your question.
It flows nice and the arrangements in the songs are alot easier to digest compared to their previous stuff. I think Ghost Reveries would be a good place to start as well.
