with Billie Joe that it is a tribute song to Johnny Ramone. You know since he died in the month of September.
it wasn't, he wrote it about has father's death and how he's felt since it, hence the lyrics
7 years has gone so fast

20 years has gone so fast
hmm...okay, maybe you're right, but I figured 20 years has gone so fast was about the Ramones. It makes sense if you know about the Ramones. This Message Edited On 10.27.05

This kind of ignorant posting really needs to stop. I don't care what you're opinion about a band is, calling a band sellout and saying all they want is money is very immature. The band is rich already and they could have easily retired from the music biz, but they thought they would try something new and it was very popular. Granted, I dislike this album a lot, but that doesn't mean I should start to immaturelly post in a review saying a band is "sell out wanne be angst ridden teenagers that are only in it for the money".This Message Edited On 10.29.05
Now I'd like to take the opportunity to clear some things up. We can all say "hey, Green Day isn't punk" and "they never were punk" I like to look at things a different way. See, Green Day started as a punk band before pop-punk was even around. They made Dookie and were all of a sudden labeld as "pop-punk". Why? Because they became more successful and popular than other punk bands. Thats stupid. If your music still sounds punk, like Dookie, you should still be considered punk, no matter how successful you become. I can understand Warning and some songs on American Idiot but still alot of their music still sounds punk at least to me. Pop-punk is crap like Simple Plan and New Found Glory, bands who never were punk and never had to work to gain their success
Pop-punk is: Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, Sum 41, Alkaline Trio, Hawthorne Heights...you get the idea. They aren't called pop-punk because they are so successful. It's because they are. Ramones, The Clash, Bad Religion. Successful punk bands. Okay?

you're all contradicting yourselves, if pop-punk is punk that has been accepted the the sexpistols and the clash would ALSO have to be classed as pop-punk

This album is weak. Green Day jumped on the bandwagon, discussing politics, being "pissed off at bush." The songs are really nothing special either.

That new DVD coming out seems to be a very bad idea.

OK, everyone. I just deleted 3 pages of comments from here, in their entirety. A whole load of people just got banned including some really good reviewers and regulars here. Details can be found at:

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10278823&postcount=9

The bans are non-negotiable. If you object, feel free to let me know, but they're not being lifted. I know that none of you guys came in here to start a fight, but as regulars, some of you should know better, and display a greater level of maturity on here. I made them short, but if this crap happens again, they're going to be longer. Any questions/problems, take it to the sputnikmusic site forum. Thanks,

I agree with Rudd, the new DVD will be a bad idea.

By the way I just gave this album another listen and I still don't get what' so great about it, there are some good tracks, but songs like "She's A Rebel" just don't fit in.

Yea, I'm with zebra here. The album is not nearly as spectaclular as it's made out to be a lot of the time. I think everyone was just so awe-struck by the fact that Green Day came out with something different. But shouldn't that effect wear off?...

Personally I love this album. When I first listened to it, I was blown away by the quality of the tracks all the way through. The lyrics alone make this album worth the money for me. There are too many excellent lines in these songs to mention here.

IMO this album shows a more mature Green Day and I like what I'm hearing.

Ok, so I deleted some pages of comments. Again. Despite some people deserve bannings here, I'm in a good mood and hand out a warning:

Everyone, I repeat, EVERYONE, posting here again on how Green Day are not political or that they are not Punk or whatever stupid similar thing will be banned. If you want to argue about such matters, go to the forums.

The warning has been given, the rest is up to you.

I don't much care for Green Day, but this album is better than most of their albums.

Well, I saw more than one of the points you deem 'bannable' in the comments I kicked. So I see no reason for complaining
