Side B is crazy good
actually scratch it, the whole run from "Sartori" to "Requiem" is flawless

This is so uninteresting so far
Maybe aggressively so
Like how did they manage to make this album poppier but also LESS catchy?
|
| |
idk, poppier is a pretty big word for this other than for the first two songs, isn't it? The majority of this is basically Discipline 2: Just a Little More Relaxed (and even then there are Requiem and Neurotica which get wilder than Discipline)
I would suggest switching the sides if you respin, or just starting from track 3/4.
I don't think side B is any less excellent than Discipline (and personally Two Hands > Matte Kudasai)

Two Hands was definitely one of the better songs on here but I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere near Matte Kudasai which is among one of my favorites by King Crimson
Songs like Neurotica don’t really phase me since I’m quite used to the “frantically listing things” kind of songs and I can’t say it’s a quality example of one of those. Requiem is just like a jam solo. It feels so much less organized than The Sheltering Sky or Discipline’s t/t

Not a bad record but these songs are much, much better live. BEAT playing "Waiting Man" with Steve Vai and Danny Carey is a transcendent experience, Vai took it to an entirely different level

Too bad i didn’t have hundreds of dollars lying around to go see them 😆

Show was absolutely amazing - best of my life. Transcendent is the right word. It may have helped that Vai was playing to me and my buddy all night... and he literally confirmed this to us afterward after some random lady gave us after-show passes. Unbelievably cool.
This album didn't do anything for me until after the BEAT show. Now it's up there as a fav.

Nice. I didn't see that show. I've the same opinion that this isn't a bad album, but not as great as the previous ones. If I had seen that live show, maybe I also could change my opinion.

They announced a live record coming out in September, basically the VEEPS livestream show remixed and mastered for home release in multiple formats. Pumped for that, seriously hope they start writing new music together in the vein of the '80s KC stuff cuz that would be insanely good

Hearing King Crimson playing New Wave is kinda strange, but it's still great.
Neurotica is the clear highlight here for sure imho. I'm pretty sure Imperial Triumphant got a thing or two from that song

Insanely underrated and I wish I knew why lol. Obviously not as good as Discipline, but come on... Neal And Jack And Me, Heartbeat, Waiting Man, Neurotica, The Howler--all kickass songs

Maybe, but it's obviously not as good as Discipline, as you said, neither not even how Three Of A Perfect Pair for me.
|
| |
Neal And Jack And Me absolute ass beater and then it goes downhill pretty hard from there, the Heart songs are awful on this. Waiting Man and Sartori are good too I guess

In my opinion, the highlights on the album are “Neal And Jack And Me”, “Neurotica” and especially “Sartori In Tangier”. “Heartbeat” is also a very good song despite its pop style. About the rest, I'm not a great fan of it.
