People keep forgetting that this album basically brought punk to the mainsteam. Sure ramones were around, but in england punk was unheard of. Sex Pistols where simply in the right place at the right time. and so what if they made a classic album at the right time?

"One thing I'm curious about though. What would they have produced next if they hadn't of split up so early?"

I've heard a few b-sides and rare stuff and it looks like they would've gone in a slightly heavier direction. This Message Edited On 02.03.09

UGH...dude, back in the 70's in england this wasn't bland music! sure it may not be your cup of tea now because music has grown so much since, but back then this album was so controversial that they had to black it out of the charts.

well man, to me it seems like the songs, regardless of the times, just don't have anything special.

it seems to me- keep in mind i don't know much about why whatever tops the charts- that the sex pistols kind of rode on how controversial they were instead of achieving such success based on any musical credit.

this whole thing is completely based in opinion, though, so whatever. i'm just happy that you're not a retard who just shits himself when someone else shits on a band they like.

lol yeah i hate the people that go off their nut when someone puts down one of their bands.

you said "the sex pistols kind of rode on how controversial they were instead of achieving such success based on any musical credit."

And thats exactly true, and that IS why they appealed to the youth of the time. The sex pistols didn't care about music, or the beatles of chord proggressions. they just wanted to make a hell of a lot of noise, and piss a lot of people off.

But now they aren't controversial, so they are obsolete and invalid.

Not even a review really.. Just you commenting on some songs and how you like them. No insight or real reason for me to ever want to hear this classic album .

This has been collecting dust on my cd shelves for years.

To be honest the only punk I really care for at all is maybe some of the early hardcore punk bands.. Discharge, Bad Brains, DRI, the Cro-Mags, a little bit of Minor Threat every now and then.

Amebix as well although they’re more like blackened crust.

There is hardly an ounce of musical talent here. I respect their message, and i commend what they did, but honestly the music just sucks. If it weren't for the whole "starting the punk movement" thing, I'd give this a 1.

Uhh...I'd say the Stooges would've started the punk movement more than fucking Johnny Rotten.
