I echo Tuna's words, in spite of all the drug problems he had I always saw him as a guy who would, eventually, bounce back and clean his act. RIP.

RIP scott. one of my most listened to bands of all time especially when i was younger. i always thought stp was unique among all of the copy cat nirvanas and pearl jams that permeated the music scene in the 90s.

Will never forget the first time I heard Plush, one hell of a debut album. Those megaphone vocals will always live on. RIP

Agree hard, I must've heard Purple 8 times in a row today. Core has amazing individual songs, which are probably the main reason for my 3.5 instead of lower, since it doesn't flow particularly well.

STP were great, Purple was one of the 90s best rock albums but the underlying magic that catapults bands into the one offs was never quite there. Pearl Jam definitely had it, soundgarden as well to some extent.

STP were fun musicians to be sure, but imo their music lacked something that PJs and SGs had.

I guess I find STP a bit more basic. Nothing wrong with that so long as it's fun, but I can't quite hold them in the same regard as I do PJ or SG.

It's all subjective though, and I will admit that STP had their share of great songs.

it was objective as hell back in the day dude. Ten was a kick in the teeth, Vedder swinging from the rigging and being all angsty as Mcready ripped into Alives' solo. Life changer.
This came out and it was a case of 'band wagon jumpers do good tunes'

I disagree hard actually, in fact this record, save for a few awesome songs, isn't that impressive in my opinion, thinking of changing my rating to a 3. Purple and Tiny Music..., though, are incredible albums, Purple being one of the best of the era.

Purple's more interesting. This rocks harder for sure, but even rocking hard needs a change every now and again.
