Have you heard Oceania? I think it's a great album.

Oceania is like a 2.5, but I will say it's their first once since Adore that wasn't offensively bad.

Never liked this one. Even when it came out, I've tried listening to it several times, but I just never liked it. Just doesn't seem to interest me.

The magic was lost. Coming off the back of a bloated Mellon Billy's melon was bald and brought with it bland bullshit with no beauty.

still some magic here, can see why people think it's boring though as it is ballad heavy. I found this album a more surprising curveball than Kid A, Billy and for the most part no riffs across a whole album is one I didn't see coming

Album is great. Things didn't go to shit until Machina.

Siamese Dream > Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness > Gish > Adore >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Oceania > Machina I > Monuments to an Elegy > Machina II > Zeitgeist

Siamese Dream rocked to another level and came at a time when the 'scene' was held in the hands of kids who now knew what it meant to finally have good stuff to rock out to.
Then came Mellon. An absolute mish mash that had its moments but there was a bit too much head up arse and people knew that it was coming to the end for Cherub Rock style magic.
This album came out more in desperation than to offer up anything exciting. Plus Bill was bald.

Him being bald is a dumb reason to dislike this album. It anything, it made the "Ava Adore" music video even creepier in a good way.

Machina has about 2 or 3 usual Pumpkins standard songs then a load of 1/5 drek

I think this album is the perfect artistic expression of turning bald

The fear of growing older, the fragility of youth and realisation that as we age the venom subsides was all made abundant and manifested itself in a chrome dome.

@Doofus: Agreed. Machina's opener and closer were great, but fuck the rest of the album.

I mean seriously, "Heavy Metal Machine" has to be one of their worst songs by far...

i always loved the NAKED emotion and SHINY production - seems I've been under the influence of the dome all this time

I think we're getting close to the true nature of this album's power
