"People are 1ing the new EP for having liberal ideas? Weird I thought Sput was pretty liberal"

it's the other way around

people giving it higher ratings are doing so because of said ideas

the music is trash otherwise

"did the new ep ever release outside of youtube?"

not that i know of, looks like it was meant to be an exclusively audio visual experience which i was fine with at the end of the day because i found the videos/monologues/songs to be quite affecting afterall

anyway, I appreciate the 100th Window love around here, & unlike the "SNW is the best Deftones album!!!" crew I've actually seen it happen outside Sputnik

my hs french teacher burned a cd of this for me, so it has always had kind of a weird energy to it. it's a good album though.

Rating the new 'ep' is an entirely different metric than most releases on this site as it isnt purely aural. Self explanatory shit. If I were rating it just as "songs" it would be a different story but that's an oversimplification and obviously I'm not bumping political monologues sans integral video component in my whip and rolling up on fly honies with the sub packin. The music is obviously meant to be a secondary element.

Who tf cares? what a meaningless anecdote.

it obviously has a "meaning" as you dismissed people's rating as being "sputcore" which is stupid as it's actually an opinion you could find pretty easily elsewhere unlike the one I mentioned

and also just because someone presents a release as "needing" the visuals doesn't mean people can't rate it on its own merits. that's a pretty dumb defense, but I guess anything works when you precede it with some weird over-inflated internet ego

The funny thing about anecdotes, my smoothbrained little compatriot, is that they are all relative. I know many people irl that think snw is the best deftones and many people who think 100th window is the worst massive attack. In fact I know exactly zero people offline who think otherwise regarding 100th window. So you'll find again, that your anecdote is entirely meaningless outside of your own little world and has exactly net zero bearing on my own perspective.

needing? no. but that's how it was made to be experienced. you're basically arguing that you can go to a concert and close your eyes and rate the concert based on just the audio. thats a pretty retarded defence but i guess anything works when you're fragile little ego is broken down into tiny little shards of pixie dust by the wildly facetious insinuation that you're shorter than someone on the internet.

of course you can do that. i can watch a movie and rate it purely off the soundtrack too. i'd be an idiot, but i could still do it.

except that it's not a concert, it's an EP that just happened to be released with a visual component aside from its cover art to start off with. it's their first new work in years so to act like nobody is supposed to rate it on its own musical merits is kind of ridiculous, acting like people only dislike it because of the political aspect is even worse

the politics of those tracks were probably the most positive aspect of them, I just didn't feel like it was very engaging for the first MA release since 2016, but judging from the past 6 posts or so of yours it looks like ad hominems & weird fabricated projections are just kind of your thing

Underrated and my second favorite after Mezzanine. They nailed this icy, mysterious atmosphere and carried over the compositional strengths of Mezzanine. Don't know why Daddy G was absent on it, probably could've made it even better.
