Album title sounds pretty similar to a particular Judas Priest album.

I don't think I ever tried this album, I was always a big The Odyssey guy. But lately I started listening to "Orion the Hunter" a lot for the first time in many years.

His guitar tone is fat, listen to "Orion the Hunter", he turned the bass UP on that recording.

In retrospect, Symphony X's early albums sound dated to my ears, probably because I liked them a whole lot more once they upped the aggression in the sound and vocals beginning with "The Odyssey". I still think this is a damn good album, but not as essential listening as it was when it came out. When I want to crank SX, it's anything from the "V" album forward...

I don't listen to these albums anymore, but pretty sure this is a great great album still.

Haven't jammed in a while yeah. This was when Romeo let some of the other dudes compose as well

dude that clean section near the end of the accolade just ripped my face off [2]

Dooood, they need to incorporate more church organs. Don't know why more bands don't, sounds so epic

@Weirdbeard sure, the production sounds dated in the same way that Operation Mindcrime and Images and Words sound dated. The compositions are so good that it turns the production quirks into an endearing quality.

This is tight, and some of the best bass work the band has had.

Also, this was back in the day of 'cleaner' Russell before he started adding more grit/harshness to his voice.

Yep, the world was a more innocent place back then. Russell's voice reflected that
