I probably would've rated this a 4 or 4.5 if it was a little bit shorter.

Shorter? There isn't a song on here that should be shorter.

Yeah i guess not shorter. I dont know it just seemed that i started getting a little bored toward the end. The album starts out great with The Poet And The Pendulum which is epic as hell.

I feel completely the opposite about getting a little bored towards the end. The end is just as strong as the beginning. The Islander, Last of the Wilds, 7 Days to the Wolves, and Meadows of Heaven are just amazing. Though they do average over 6 minutes in length.

I definitely dont mind the length. I dont know, i dont listen to that much Power Metal, maybe i just need to get used to the style a little more.

This really isn't power metal at all. Oceanborn and Wishmaster were really Nightwish's only power metal albums. Cenutry Child strayed more into symphonic metal territory. Once (my fav. album ever) went deeper into that genre. This, on the other hand, took Once's symphonic nature and went into a realm not seen ever before.

See i dont know what im talking about lol. Well im more of a Extreme Metal person. Just recently have i been going into this genre. I started with Dragonforce which might not have been a good idea because i dont think they're that good at all.

Amaranth starts off really well, but is not as good as you say it is. The chorus rules though.

I disagree with this statement in the review. I think this is a great song that helps add diversity to the album.

"Last Of The Wilds would be a very cool song if it was just the orchestra, synth, piano, and acoustic guitar parts. Combining Celtic folk music with heavy guitars and rock drums just DOES NOT WORK. Instead of being good, it sounds terribly awkward."

Yeah, I have trouble finding the appeal of this band as well. And when I first heard Dragonforce, I was like "Whoa, this is fucking amazing!", then after a handful of listens I realized I wasn't even listening anymore lol. Oddly enough, I got into Doom with Ahab (cheers to that album ) and that holds my attention more that this kind of stuff ever did. Except Symphony X (sorta similar). I love them.

Sorry for the huge post, I'll shut up now...

yeah the chorus in amaranth is ridiculous, i agree and it deff holds the melody of the song as the mantlepiece. i dont understand how the rest of it isn't as good as the beginning. what else would you expect? perhaps a little underdeveloped other than the chorus as far as the instrumentation goes? i couldnt really expect much more. I love the bridge at the end though. Really great stuff. I'm just sayin too bad the song isn't longer lol.

the song is deff all about the chorus. Olzon means business and I'm looking forward to more as well as what is already in front of me.

It just seemed a bit bland a bit during the duration of the song. Maybe it is because it comes after the powerhouses that are Poet and the Pendulum and Bye Bye Beautiful.

I actually like the demo version (Reach) than Amaranth tbh.

I listened to both Tarja's Nightwish stuff & Annette's stuff on this album before I decided on getting a Nightwish album, I prefered Annette's & got this album.

I have to say, it's one of the best Metal albums I have heard in a long time

Amaranth & Poet And The Pendulum both kick ass.

More of "Post Tarja" Nightwish in the future please =D

I am currently listening to this in my living room on my tv that has amazing sound quality. The orchestra is bouncing off of the walls and actually being able to hear all of the little parts makes me realize that this is a 5 rating now. Just the most spectacular thing I have heard outside of Once.
