Big fan of this band so I am kind of biased. This CD was not very different from their old stuff musically as much as it was in the production. The vocals were made closer to Tim's voice live (less highs, I have seen them twice and watched numerous videos and He doesn't even attempt the highs he does off the albums). The instruments were all clean and could be heard well individually.

Good review. I think that there is plenty of room for improvement but i think that the drumming is amazing a solid but complex. For that reason "Forsaken" is my favorite song in the album.

Really didn't like the album myself...didn't get any energy from it, which is half if not the whole point behind metal.
|
| |
theres plenty of energy, its not great, but whatever its pretty average metalcore album

^No, but see, I often like metalcore. All That Remains and Chimaira have been among my favourite artists for awhile now. Admittedly you do get shitty bands like Unearth about, but still.

Chimaira is boring, AILD and Unearth destroy them guitar and drumming wise.

But their vocals and production suck. Technicality means nothing to me if I can't get into a song in the first place, which means a) energy (even ballads have energy), b) vocals MUST be decent and c) the production needs to be loud, audible and crisp. AILD and Unearth just sounds so subdued due to production.

Wtf? How does this have bad production?

Pretty generalized statement! AILD hasn't changed their drumming patterns since their first album. Unearth has a tight drummer, I'll give you that. Chimaira at least has variation in their songs and they can actually somewhat solo. Listen to their s/t album.
And to the debate above, this album has been over-produced. This Message Edited On 04.28.08

I dunno... The drumming on this is pretty tight. And I find this just border-line over-produced personally.

Overproduced, a little over produced; Same shit, different pile hahahah. The drumming gets really boring if you've listened to all of their albums. They need to change it up and add some rhythm variations into their next album (at least I feel this way).

I used to be into metalcore like this but, even to a certain point, I find its become even more generic and bland than nu-metal. I guess I just outgrew it (without sounding all smuggy and shit hahaha).

i used to hate them a lot, but i listened to some shit off of shadows are security when my zune was on shuffle and it was pretty decent.

@the_wizard, it doesn't make you look smarter or cooler to give generic albums that are otherwise completely solid terrible ratings

 yeah a 123 on that right there. This album isn't anything mindblowing but there's definitely some songs on here that I really like. Just because it's metalcore doesn't automatically make it bad.

Your a fucking idiot. This isn't even close to being solid, its the same rehased shit they have been plopping out for the last 6 years. And, I never said that it made me look smarter or cooler, I just simply stated that I have grown out of this stuff, not because I want to look better than everyone. But I forgot i am the robots, your a moron who thinks that their word is law.
