By definition no. You can relate the word back to meaning anything obscene, which is probably the most relevant definition, but it traditionally comes from roman/greek festivals. the ithyphallic metre was used in hymns and whatnot.

Alas, I must agree with this entire review. I enjoyed Annihilation of the Wicked but this is just an overly ostentatious showing of generic as hell brutal death metal with the occasional worthless eastern influence thrown in. =/

This reviewer lacks respect on so many levels at least respect the band for accomplishing something you wouldn't be able to if your life depended on it. And the reason Nile chose Ithyphallic is to send a message to you that if you dont like the music you cant just suck it.

Cus you know Nile has insane songwriting skillx that nobody else has ever had. I'm sorry but I have 15 year old friends that make more interesting music than whats on this album. Nile are technically proficient at their instruments but there certainly are much better out there. And tecnhincal skill is only a part of what makes music good. Not to mention that sometimes you don't even need it.
