Giving it a listen, review is sophomorically bad. I hope to God this isn't his job.

First 5 tracks are thoroughly entertaining, the rest is pretty mushy.

Most of SYL's albums are extremely over-hyped anyway.
Most meaning 1st, 3rd, and 5th, I hope.

I think it's physically impossible to make an album scarier/heavier/insanier than Alien.

"First 5 tracks are thoroughly entertaining, the rest is pretty mushy."
N9, Color Your World, and The Greys are all great. That's 3 out of 4 of the actual songs after track
5. I don't really know what "mushy" is supposed to mean so I can't comment there.
As for people not liking this as much as some of his other stuff, I think there's a couple reasons for
that. A lot of people have trouble with anything that is tongue-in-cheek. That removes some people
from the mix. A lot of people have trouble with anything that has a theatrical feel to it, such as
this album or The Dear Hunter's earlier albums. That removes even more. You're left with a smaller
audience than normal for a DT album.

Kyle Banick needs a tall latte.
Album is pretty bleh, but it has it's moments. I prefer Hyperdrive on this one.

I disagree 100%. This is my favorite album of all time not only because of the quality music, but because Devin Townsend used an elaborate, otherworldly concept to express how he felt about his life at the time. Ziltoid represented all his negative feelings at the time and Captain Spectacular represented all the positive changes he was trying to combat and eventually accepted when he changed his life and formed DTP. This album deserves no less than 5/5

"Hyperdrive" and "The Greys" are good here, but I unfortunately agree with a lot of the review.

Far from DT's best album, but it still has a damn good collection of material.
