Yeah i feel the same sowing. Even their best albums are great at best imo. I will agree that new slang is one of the best songs ever

It's just catchy indie-pop but it's very consistent and probably more fun than anything else they've ever released in terms of sheer euphoria and melody

Chutes Too Narrow is an indie pop masterpiece with beautiful lyricism about breaking up, but to each their own

know your onion! is one of the best songs I’ve heard in the past year for sure. Great opener too. “New slang” is a fake song though

It’s like “love me do” or “where is my mind” or whatever it’s just like. I can’t engage with it at all for some reason mostly due to associations

Hm I think it’s a kind of perfect song but it’s the kind of perfect song that works so well because it sounds like it was simply conjured out of the ether fully formed. It sounds like everything and nothing. So I guess I kind of see what you mean (or maybe I don’t at all) but my perspective is totally different.

to be clear I dont think it's 'new slang''s fault that I dont like it maybe almost. I dont think I'd ever be in love with it but it's def more how many contexts I've heard it in etc.
as well as what boney mentioned about the songwriting feeling SO seamless/natural kinda. hmm
