My ranking of Emperor conveniently goes chronologically from best to worst with their LP releases. But even my"least" favorite record, Prometheus, is a banger that I revisit from time to time. What a band.
I also appreciate Ihsahn more recently discussing why he has no plans to create a new Emperor record, and detract from the band's legacy. Pretty much summed up as, "yeah we could create another In the Nightside Eclipse, but it wouldn't feel genuine, or we could release a new Emperor record that would just end up sounding like a modern Ihsahn record"

this does really rock, love the dm/thrashy riff variety. it's a unique album. this and promethus are neck and neck. maybe prometheus by a touch but both are amazing albums that are criminally overlooked because of their two masterpieces.
and yeah totally respect ihsahn on that. he is the man.
