Yeah they did, moreso on their EP though.
Oli Sykes vocal abilities really are questionable though. The instrumentation does take some kind of ability to pull off - but it's all so samey and boring.

it does sound boring from time to time, i dont think this album is great perse, but the first three songs are really good

Pray For Plagues is pretty lame to be honest.

oh...well damn, i thought they were enjoyable

If the band were instrumental, I'd give this album a 2.
Oli's annoying "br00tal" vocal technique brings it to a 1. He just simply sounds horrendous. This Message Edited On 02.01.08

Are these guys anything like Architects?
Cause I've started to really like them.
|
| |
Album Rating: 2.5
No. Architects are much better - they create relatively original riffs and the vocals aren't so bad that they detract from the rest of the music.
Listen to the songs on Bring Me the Horizon's myspace. After less than a minute, you'll easily be able to decide if you like them or not.

If you rate them a 1 Confessed, I'd doubt I would like it.
I thought it would be a decent listen cause they're touring with Architects....guess not. This Message Edited On 02.01.08

I think it's more that both bands are in the metal scene and that they're both British if anything.
Architects are a lot more technical. This is pretty much straightforward metalcore with a lot of death metal influence. Instrumentally average and vocally weak.

Ya confessed I realize these two are both on the rise in the UK metal scene.
I'd stick to above-average tech-metal then a seemily below average uk band playing overplayed american metal/deathcore.

Definitely man. Architects are one of the best bands to come out of the UK metal scene for ages.
If you want bands that emulate BMTH's style but pull it of well, listen to Through the Eyes of the Dead (Anthony Gunnell's era though, not Malice) and Johnny Truant, whom are slightly more hardcore influenced but still pretty amazing, particularly in terms of vocal talent and songwriting ability.

^You mean bands that BTHM emulates.
How can I not know about Johnny Truant(band) when he is named after the main character from my favourite book.
They're def a big highlight in the UK metal scene, so if these guys are a lesser JT then maybe I'll check em out then. This Message Edited On 02.01.08This Message Edited On 02.01.08

They're only similar to JT in that Oli does try in vain to emulate the vocalist's style. At least thats what it sounds like.
Give Animosity a listen as well. The drummer kills.

Jesus Christ Confessed, we have talked about Animosity before and yes the drumming does kill, along with the guitar (abit samey ) and awesome vocals.
I'd say I'm pretty knowledgable on metal/deathcore, just not with UK bands.

Oh yeah, shiz. Sorry dude. I get a bit forgetful.
The UK scene is definitely getting better. Some great bands of recent have come about; Devil Sold His Soul, SikTh, Architects etc.
No longer are we plagued with the stereotype that Iron Maiden and the rest of the NWOBHM bands is our only good export (at least that what it feels like sometimes).

Doesn't matter I'm still somewhat new.
What do you like better, Devil Sold His Soul or SikTh?
I like technicality in my metal.

I would like them if they didn't look like 14 year old children crying about stupid shit in their lyrics. Just kidding. But serious about them looking like children. Fairly brutal. Favorite part is when he says "move" and shit goes raw. Sounds fairly typical though. But they do it fairly well.

I like SikTh and Devil Sold His Soul for different reasons.
But right now I'm digging DSHS more.

Ya I also can't seem to respect/like a band where they look girly and have silly juvenile lyrics but hey to each his own.

Even if they all looked like Meshuggah they'd still make very generic, tiresome metalcore bordering on death metal territory.
Hence, I'd still rate this a big fat one.
