I like this, but it lacks something that doesn't allow it to be a 4 in my book, but I can't put a finger on it.

The Mudane and the Magic is such a kicka$$ song.

Indeed, one of the best songs of the album along with The Lesser Faith and Icipher.

I don't know why alot of people hate this album. The guitars aren't super technical and there's no "epic" long songs but all the songs are different from eachother and the album has a very good atmosphere. My only grudge is the clean singing in i think 2 of the songs. The dude's voice reminds me of the chocolate rain guy. Anyway, this is a good album but definitely not one of the top releases of 07 as alot of people have stated.

I definitely don't hate this album, but it's not one of the 5 best albums of the year or anything. It's got some songs that are absolutely killer like "Nothing To No One", "Terminus", "Focus Shift" and "The Mundane and the Magic", but most of the other songs on here can get pretty monotonous.
Bottom line is, Dark Tranquillity either really sticks out with totally amazing songs, or writes the same song we've heard from Character already a couple more times. Not that doing that is truly bad, but a little variety and something fresh would be nice.

Excellent album,
IMO they are not pioneer but they are doing good Melodeath.

wow didn't know that many people disliked his clean vocals, I actually like his singing wish he'd do it a little more. That doesn't mean i'd prefer him singing, because he has some of the best screams in the biz.

The music is so amazing, I had to bumped this to a 4. I don't like the vocals too much, which is really a shame.

You don't like his vocals? Blasphemy.

They are fine, but I can't say "Oooh I like his vocals." I guess I need some more clean singing. Trust me, if I really disliked his vocal this wouldn't be a 4.

I do like his clean vocals, but I find I never really like most of the songs he uses clean vocals in too much. I don't particularly care for The Mundane and the Magic.
Misery's Crown is pretty awesome though. But I don't like this album as much as I used to. Don't think I can put it lower than a 4, however.

The Mundane And The Magic is easily the best track on here, and that's saying something.

Terminus and Blind at Heart are easily the best imo.

The snare sound on Terminus reminds me of the smack sound of a racquetball hitting a wall. I like The Lesser Faith the most.

I don't know exactly why, I but I don't like this nearly as much as I used to. I actually feel like it's one of their weaker releases now =/
Maybe It'll grow on me again, but I'm re-listening all of my DT albums today and so far this is my least favorite.

I was listening to my I pod in shuffle and Misery's Crown came up; that song is just so incredibly good. I can melt listening to that song, best on the album.

A very consistent effort which suffers from not having many standout tracks, IMO.
Still a solid album.
