Yea, pretty good collection of songs individually, but not the most exciting listen overall. Putting these songs into context with their following releases is a hell of an experience though. Have fun!

City Escape and His Hands are my favorites so far. 1878 is awesome too.

Oh shit Larkin I'm glad you're on TDH now. Can't wait to hear what you think about Act IV (inconsistent but has some incredible highs) and Act V (the most consistent and accomplished album I've ever heard).
|
| |
FWIW I think Act II and III have the potential to put some people off. Act II with the production and whiny vocals, and Act III with the sluggish pace. I still think Act II is great. But whatever you do, listen through all the Acts so you can get the reward of those last 2.

Yeah man, loving them so far! I got sidetracked by checking out The Receiving End of Sirens debut tho. Gonna soon that for a bit and soak it in, then check their second album and return to TDH. Just figured two albums won’t take too long, but TDH has a fairly extensive discog it seems, especially factoring in the Color Spectrum and their other EPs.

| |
And don’t worry man, I will definitely be going through it all, including the Color Spectrum and Migrant. But I think I may save those two for the end, even though I usually go chronologically— just seems like it would be best to listen through all the acts together before going to those.

I suggest doing the Color Spectrum last. Finish TREOS, take your time with the act series. Dip into Migrant (it's their least interesting one imo) to cleanse your pallet before diving into the awesomeness of The Color Spectrum. There is so much goodness here its a little ridiculous.
And if you're loving the TREOS albums, don't worry too much about the whiny vocals in act 2 for its less than TREOS.

Heard plenty about these guys. Thought I'd start chronologically since there seems to be an ongoing concept between most of their albums.
So far, I dig! A bit slow at points but overall very nice stuff. The vocals are especially impressive; the lead singer's voice is very similar to that of Rikard Sjoblom of Beardfish and Big Big Train.

So I've heard. Looks like no shortage of material either, between 7 albums and like 15 EPs

Oeh man I would love to be able to hear them all for the first time again. Have fun!

This is a bit all over the place, but I like it.
First listen I'd say is a 3 or 3.5.

Same for me. Good ideas, but they're better realised on later albums

Bumped this up to a 4
Inquiry of Ms. Terri and Pimp and the Priest have aged so well. Production isn't perfect but honestly this slaps harder than I remember it.

"1878 and his hands matched his tongue my god" [2]
Compared to most of Casey's discog, a lot of people sleep on this album
