wheither this CD isn't black metal or not, they sure as hell started off black metal. Their first album is really grisly and dark and I f***ing love it.

Why does everybody have all these genre wars...
why can't you just call it black metal... It sounds enough like every other black metal band to me to just fit into BLACK METAL, forgetting symphonic or melodic or anything... ahhhhhhhh
Then again this is coming from a person who doesn't really like black metal and just started listening to these guys... but i like them

What is this obsession with trying to stick bands into genres? Why not just call it "Cradle of Filth" and be done with it? Who the f*ck cares if they sound "symphonic", too "melodious", etc. They are a band that makes music, either you like what they produce or you don't.
I love them, by the way, and I think their albums are getting better and better each release.

Great review...
I just got this CD the other day and I had to comment. This is a LISTENABLE Cradle of Filth CD...I don't find too much wrong with it, and I don't see what the big "fuss" is about them among the black metal elitists. This CD is aggressvie, melodic, and damn heavy. I fuckin' love it.

Ive got into this recently and spent Saturday night doing little else apart from listening to it (and surfing porn on the net). I really love Absinthe with Fauste, the guitar intro is classic and its one of Dani's better performances.

I just want to say that Cradle of Filth is one of my favorite bands i got hooked on it from a couple friends who were upsessed with it ..at first i couldnt stand it but after a while they're style will grow on you and you'll love then. As for nymphetimine i thought i was a fairly descent album but not even close to being there best.
