I enjoy everything here, You not me just drags a bit, but Burning My soul, just let me breathe and quite a few songs have a lot of cheese but cheese is good once in a while

The two epics have some really interesting moments that remind me to ACoS. I need to listen to the demos album.

The only songs on here I really enjoyed was Peruvian Skies, Hollow Years, and Trial of Tears. The rest is rather boring.

This album kicks the asses of all albums after ToT dude. Its tough between this and Octavarium but

this album is more enjoyable because it doesn't feel like DT thought about every song for a year and

how many time signatures should be in the 1st verse, it feels much more natural. And thats what modern

DT lacks. they're so worried about their fans reactions now.

Thats the case with pretty much all bands. Theres less pressure at the start of a band's career, but once any band gains a large fanbase the quality of their material generally declines.

Which is unfortunate because there's more financial stability for the band later, well atleast in DTs case and you'd expect them to be comfortable taking risks, KC did. Another issue is lack of creativity.

Really good review. I agree with almost all your ratings but would probably rate Hollow Years and Anna Lee a bit lower and Burning my Soul much higher. Your overall rating hits the mark. Trail of Tears and Lines in the Sand are classics imo, very good songwriting and so emotional! Derek is an amazing keyboarder and I enjoy his style very much.
