You dont ever see yourself giving a 5 to an album? Thats sad that if you do, this would be it. I agree, its a fantastic album, but far from incredible.
And this is a very promising album, a solid recommendation to any metal fan.

It's definitely solid. The arrangements really could use some work though.

I dunno, I like this more with each listen. The only real flaw I see with this is the drum production, and the length of course. I also don't think the two "Horizons of Chaos" songs are up to par with the rest of the album, but that's really it.

I don't know. Horizons pt.2 is pretty awesome. Horizons pt.1 is my least favorite on the album though.

good review, but I would have to disagree with you about the drums.
while they arent Kollias or anything, they are much more than just nothing speical. If you listen close you get hints of talent thats just not being shown off. alot of the fills seem simple enough until you realize how they are fit in to the music. its pure genius.
and on another note, Nick Pierce only recorded the instrumental Akeldema. The drummer from Diskreet recorded Pestilence and Horizons of Chaos part 2. Animosity's drummer recorded horizons of chaos part 1, and Brett Batendorf(i believe thats how you spell his name) did the rest.
but its a real good review and this is by far my favorite death metal cd.

^^^ I had no clue that many people were apart of the recording possess, that fuc king sick.
Good first comment if you ask me.

Caught them on the Nile tour, apparently their line-up is really shifting around... has some new vocalist I'd never seen before (this was my 5th time to see them), a different keyboard player (but he was there last time) and Navene Koperweis from Animosity was on drums. It was pretty solid, but I think the change in members might have thrown them a little off their game...
On the other hand, they played two new songs, and if the rest of the album is half as good as them, then the new album is going to shred this one to pieces.

as long as keene is their lead guitarist, I think they'll do alright.
Akeldama is just gonna be hard to top, no matter how you spin it.

^^^You should review The Monolith Deathcult, amazing album.
To the person who saw them recently, how did the vocalist perform and is he the new permanent vocalist?
|
| |
He did alright... not as good as Rydquist.
His demeanor seemed very different from the rest of the band... he also seemed really old. lol.
I doubt he's the new permanent singer.
